Dear Students,

In this week's online sessions, we began by discussing the current schedule and the ongoing strike and sit-in. We concluded that it is essential to stay very alert to any information that may arise throughout the week.

After addressing these updates, we started the class by reviewing the content we had previously covered, focusing on the topic of comparisons in various degrees using both adjectives and adverbs. First, we examined an explanatory infographic (https://view.genially.com/606ec35208b2800d0559d4b6/presentation-comparatives-and-superlatives ), followed by additional examples of expressions for equivalence and emphasis (https://test-english.com/grammar-points/a2/comparative-superlative-adjectives-adverbs/) . Subsequently, we completed several online games related to the same topic (https://wordwall.net/es/resource/4938023/comparative-and-superlative-adjectives ) , including a game and an online quiz.

Due to the low number of participants and the lack of access to microphones, we had to suspend the Speaking section. However, I have left two speaking activities with customized questions for students of Film Studies (https://wordwall.net/resource/705147/english/questions-culture)  and Journalism (https://wordwall.net/resource/752861/what-would-you-do) .

In the second session, we began by revisiting the concept of collocations, and using a visual summary (https://test-english.com/vocabulary/b1/work-b1-english-vocabulary/ ), we explored the collocations of the verb "work". This marked the beginning of Unit 7, titled "Job Market," which aims to help students develop linguistic abilities to describe and discuss various jobs and professions, including skills and requirements, using modals to express ability and prepositions of place correctly. We then focused on a vocabulary activity, followed by a reading comprehension activity and a brief written discussion (https://learnenglishteens.britishcouncil.org/skills/reading/b1-reading/job-adverts.) We concluded the session with written exercises about workplace vocabulary (https://test-english.com/vocabulary/b1/work-b1-english-vocabulary/2/) and ending with very brief listening comprehension exercises related to people talking about their professions (https://english-practice.net/listening-exercises-a2-work-and-jobs/) .

Additionally, I have assigned homework on the platform, which will help you practice for the written exam.

Please ensure you complete the assigned tasks and stay updated with any announcements.

Best regards,

Professor Masías O.
