Week 1

(Class 1.1)

- Course Introduction

- Expected learning outcomes, syllabus and calendar, attendance policy, assessment, U-Cursos, etc.

(Class 1.2)

Unit 1 PERSONAL INFORMATION

- Objective: Being able to present yourself and talk about yourself

- Grammar: present and past tenses

- Reading and listening activities reviewing A1 or A2 levels

 

Week 2

(Class 2.1)

- Objective: Useful expressions ‘Giving opinions’

- Grammar: Likes and dislikes

- Skill: Listening ‘Family or friends’ Who do you agree with?

(Class 2.2)

Unit 2: EXPRESSING YOUR OPINIONS

- Objective: Introduce yourself and others

- Grammar: Possessive s’ – Possessive adjectives

- Useful expressions (keen on, good at, into)

 

Week 3

(Class 3.1)

- Skill: speaking ‘ Giving opinion’

- Vocabulary: Films

- Discussion: What films have you seen recently? Were they good?

(Class 3.2)

- Video ‘Dialogue about videos in a Blog’

- Grammar: Relative clauses (who, that, which)

- Writing: Do people still follow traditions or use old ways of doing things where you live?

   What do they do?

 

Week 4

Unit 3 TOOLS OF THE TRADE

(Class 4.1)

- Objective: Identifying, describing, and talking about common practical devices and devices specific to

   your area of study.

- Grammar: present passive voice / preposition + verb-ing

- Listening ‘ My favorite things’

- Vocabulary

- Skill: writing What is your favorite thing? Why is it important to you?

(Class 4.2)

- Reading activity connected to students’ area of study

- Grammar: Sequencers (first, then, etc.) Intensifiers (very, absolutely, etc.)

- Activity: starting and finishing emails

 

Week 5

(Class 5.1)

- Grammar: Present and passive voice

- Listening ‘Taking notes in class’

- Vocabulary (taking notes, highlight, concept map, make a summary)

- Discussion: How do you prepare for an exam?

(Class 5.2)

- Oral Presentations: instructions and requirements

- Activity: Connecting sentences words (who, which, where)

- Skill: Writing ‘Discussing exam results’

-Grammar: contrasting ideas (although - despite and others)

- Activity ‘Discussing exam results’
