Dear Students,

On october 21st, we will continue working on the Gender Issues unit. We will focus on using expressions to give opinions, present arguments, and contrast different viewpoints. Additionally, we will explore more language related to gender.

We will also review modal verbs (may, might, could, will) to speculate and predict future gender-related issues.


We will review Writing Task 1: Essay.

Please note that on October 28th, we will have an online lesson due to autonomous work week.

On November 4th, we will complete Writing Task 2: Essay.

Dear Students,

This week, we will be starting the Gender Issues unit. Our focus will be on using expressions to give opinions, present arguments, and contrast different viewpoints. Additionally, we will listen to two videos featuring Judith Butler and Bell Hooks to explore the language and concepts used according to their frames when discussing gender.

We will also review modal verbs (may, might, could, will) to speculate and predict future issues related to gender.

Next week, we will review Writing Task 1: Essay, while continuing our work on the Gender Issues unit.

Please note that on October 28th, we will have an online lesson due to autonomous work week.

On November 4th, we will complete Writing Task 2: Essay.

Dear students, 
Remember this week we have finished revising the essay format:
Introduction (topic sentence, background information, thesis)
Body paragraphs (topic sentence (argument), supporting information/details)
Conclusion (re-stating the thesis, summary of main points, recommendations/solutions/projections).

All of these elements were evaluated in Essay 1.

Next week we will be working on the following:

UNIT 4: GENDER ISSUES

⋅ Reading and discussion

⋅ Grammar focus: speculating and predicting (will vs may / could / might)

⋅ Reading, listening, and speaking activities.

⋅ Grammar, vocabulary, and pronunciation activities. 

the next evaluation is essay 2 which will be on November 4th. Remember our class is 75% attendance.

Welcome to B1+ English! I'm thrilled to have you on board and excited to embark on this learning journey together. My name is Camila Mardones and I will be your teacher this semester.


In this course, we'll be exploring the use of English for networking and academic purposes. I aim to create a supportive and engaging environment where you can develop your skills, ask questions, and collaborate with your peers.


All course materials, including readings and assignments, will be available on U-cursos, I will update it each week.

We will start our semester tomorrow at 14.30 in Aulario A, sala 8.
